When it comes to Online Social Networking, I have to say I'm rather fond of it. I'm a product of Generation @, I have both a Myspace and a Facebook and get online to check them daily. I'm my house the computer is the most fought over thing next to the remote. The four of us, (my sibs and I) ages ranging from 17-8 all get online and have some sort of OSN.
Schools are cautious when it comes to Social networking. Though most of the topics center around education, politics, religion, and creativity is encouraged and imagination explored, there's always that one chance that someone will use these magnificent powers for evil rather then good. Inappropriate language, pictures, online bullying is always a concern. There's also the concern for adults wondering just who their kids are talking too.
Libraries setting up a social network really couldn't do anything but help at this point in time. Teens, (myself included), spend so much time on the internet now they'd be more likely too connect with the library online for things, then actually come to the library. I'm not saying all, but a pretty good portion, so. . ..
those are my thoughts.
