Talk to me. ..

Okay,
So there are pros and cons when it comes to IMing. Cons- workers could take advantage of it talking when they shouldn't about things they shouldn't during working hours and taking away from their actual work. On the other hand, even thought it could be misused it has the possibilty to be a great asset to the library. Rather then caliing on the phone waiting. . waiting. .. waiting to be put on hold or given a busy signal is very tedious. I'm at home and i have a question about when the Library opens, where i could find this particular book if i come in later that day, what programs are coming up and for what ages. Honestly i'd rather have to log on the computer then try to locate my phone and the library number. These days technology is everything, teens and adults are using the computer more and more, texting their friends and family rather then calling. I'd say more of our patrons are online then not.
Heck! I'm online more often then not, IMing is the biggest way i stay in touch with friends. Email can take forever to send and recieve and calling is just. . No. I don't want to call. I'm lazy.
So there you have it. .. in a nutshell.
